About Me

I am Andrew Christopherson, I was born May 10th, 1999 with ASD otherwise known as Autism Spectrum Disorder. Due to this disorder; which runs in my family as my grandfather has Asperger’s, I was non-verbal until I was about six years old. Due to my autism, growing up I always related to people in different ways then most. In high school this difference became amplified as the only way to relate to people and interact was through sitting and talking in groups which I struggled with. As a result of this, in high school I became extremely isolated and it resulted in me developing depression and anxiety. I felt as though I only had one friend and though I knew other people, and they knew of me; we weren’t friends. I then lost this friend and became more isolated feeling completely alone and went to very dark places mentally. Then my senior year of high school and continuing now into college I have made more friends and gone through therapy and taken medications and from this I believe I have developed and become healthier and happier as a individual.

From writing this blog I hope to better understand my own happiness and the happiness of others, add perspective to the dark times and see how I and others can grow from trauma and how life is full of different emotions and phases but in the end worth living with joyful moments.
